Fisherman injured

An Italian fisherman was airlifted by helicopter to St Luke's hospital after he was badly injured in a fall on board a fishing vessel, 39 nautical miles south-southwest off Malta on Wednesday evening, the Armed Forces of Malta said.

The AFM said its operations centre was informed by telephone at about 9.45 p.m. that an Italian fisherman was badly injured when he fell and hit his head and required immediate medical evacuation.

The Air Squadron AFM, instructed an Italian Military helicopter to proceed to the location of the fishing boat. The crew consisted of both Italian and Maltese personnel.
