An urgent educational campaign is needed to help prevent or at least cut down on the number of occupational accidents, Labour spokesperson Marie Louise Coleiro said.

The increase in the number of such accidents was cause for concern and showed that it was not enough just to have an Occupational Health and Safety Authority, Ms Coleiro said in a statement.

She appealed to the government to do all it can to educate, and implement and enforce regulations to control such accidents as much as possible. She also extended solidarity to relatives of people involved in such accidents.
