KRS Film Distributors will be releasing no fewer than 54 films, including 16 blockbusters, between now and the end of September.
At least one major release will hit the screens each week, providing a haven of entertainment to those who want to escape the summer heat.
Summer is the time for sequels, and this year is no different. Charlie's Angels, Terminator, Dumb and Dumber, Legally Blonde, Fast and Furious, American Pie and Lara Croft all return to please their fans.
The ubiquitous Jim Carrey makes a return of his own in Bruce Almighty, one of the likely blockblusters, along with the long-awaited Hulk, whose star Eric Bana is currently in Malta filming Troy.
Another film with local connections is League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, starring Sean Connery, which was partly filmed on the island last year. The spy flick includes some of the greatest figures from adventure literature.
Jack Nicholson still shows no signs of slowing down and stars in Anger Management, about a man who gets into a scrap on a flight and is sent for therapy.
Children and families will enjoy the usual choice of cartoons and light entertainment from Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas, Pirates of the Caribbean with Johnny Depp and Piglet's Big Movie.
KRS also believes in bringing movies which may have a more limited box-office appeal. This year movie buffs will be treated to some foreign films which have made quite a name for themselves, such as Frida, about the controversial artist Frida Kuhlo, starring Salma Hayek, City of God, a violent story about two boys in Rio de Janeiro, and I Capture the Castle, a story set in the 1930s.
