An Ghaxaq man was yesterday conditionally discharged for 18 months for the possession of cannabis resin in circumstances denoting it was not for his personal use.

Louis Falzon was however acquitted of trafficking the drug within 100 metres of a youth club on January 7, 2002, on lack of evidence.

Magistrate Lawrence Quintano heard how police had arrested Falzon and his friend Duncan Agius when they were sitting in a parked van and seized cannabis resin from the dashboard.

Falzon said he had found the cannabis resin hidden in a rubble wall and when he was arrested by police he was about to share it with his friend.
