Composition of House committees

aThe House of Representatives yesterday approved the composition of its various standing committees.

Motions moved by Dr Lawrence Gonzi as Leader of the House and approved unanimously provide that the committees will be composed as follows:

The House Privileges Committee. President - The Speaker of the House. Members - Dr Lawrence Gonzi (PN), Dr Jason Azzopardi (PN), Dr Mario de Marco (PN), Dr Anglu Farrugia (MLP) , Dr John Attard Montalto (MLP).

The Public Accounts Committee. President - Dr Charles Mangion (MLP). Members - Dr Austin Gatt (PN), Prof. Josef Bonnici (PN), Dr Mario de Marco (PN), Mr Tonio Fenech (PN), Dr Josè Herrera (MLP), Dr Joseph Sammut (MLP).

The Foreign Affairs Committee. President - Dr Michael Frendo (PN). Members - Dr Joe Borg (PN), Dr Jason Azzopardi (PN), Mr Clyde Puli (PN), Mr Evarist Bartolo (MLP), Mr Leo Brincat (MLP), Dr Josè Herrera (MLP).

The Social Affairs Committee. President - Mrs Helen D'Amato (PN). Members - Dr Francis Agius (PN), Mrs Dolores Cristina (PN), Mr David Agius (PN), Dr Karl Chircop (MLP), Ms Marie-Louise Coleiro (MLP), Dr Michael Farrugia (MLP).

Committee for Consideration of Bills. President - Dr Jason Azzopardi (PN). The members will be nominated according to the bills being considered by the committee.

The National Audit Committee. President - Dr Lawrence Gonzi (PN). Members - Notary Charles Mangion, ex officio as president of the Public Accounts Committee, Mr John Dalli (PN), Dr Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici (PN) and Dr Joseph Sammut (MLP).

The Joint Parliamentary Committee with the European Parliament. Local delegation president - Dr Louis Galea (PN).
