His is not the first time I've had reason to thank the Zammit La Rosa brothers for their excellent customer care, but I think that this time Sandro Zammit La Rosa has surpassed himself.
For the past seven or eight years I have been buying Ecco shoes imported by him as I suffer from rheumatoid arthritis which makes walking very painful and they are the only shoes that don't hurt so much.
Unfortunately, since last October, I have had to wear a caliper fitted to special and very comfortable shoes supplies by the Orthodontics Department at St Luke's Hospital. After walking with them on for an average of 16 hours a day one side of the heel was worn away and, once again, it became rather painful to walk.
I inquired at St Luke's and was told that I could apply for another pair of shoes (which I have done) but by the time they are sent abroad and adapted to take the caliper, it takes six months. I asked if any of my Ecco shoes could take the caliper. Luckily one pair was suitable so I phoned Mr Zammit La Rosa and explained my problem.
On May 8 I went up to see him. He checked how my special shoes were adapted to take the caliper. He then told me that, rather than just drill a hole in the heel of the Ecco shoes to take the caliper, he would check whether it was possible to also cut out and fix straps strong enough to go round the ankle and hold the caliper in place.
I left both pairs of shoes and the caliper with him. I was asked to go the following day to collect my special shoes and caliper. Imagine my surprise the following morning when, rather than my old shoes, he gave me the Ecco shoes already adapted to take the caliper and for just a very small fee which I was more than happy to pay.
The Ecco shoes do not support the ankle as much as my special shoes do but, at least, until they come back from abroad, I can walk properly again.
Thank you, Mr Zammit La Rosa for coming to my rescue once again. (Margaret Camilleri-Pace)
I thank and compliment Mr Zammit La Rosa on having given Ms Camilleri-Pace such an excellent "caring" service.
