The Speaker and the Clerk of the House were informed of an "incident" inside the Opposition Room on Wednesday night "and the matter stopped there", Labour whip Joe Mizzi said yesterday.

Mr Mizzi said the incident was "blown out of all proportion by the Nationalist Party media".

The PN media reported that swearing and shouting was heard from the Opposition Room along with the sound of shattering glass.

Contacted yesterday, Mr Mizzi said what happened was that "someone was a bit happy, a door was slammed and part of it fell off. Then a glass tabletop was smashed accidentally".

"There were no fights, nothing of the sort," he insisted.
