The parish priest of Luqa, Fr Joseph Camilleri, 55, who was seriously injured in a fall at the parish centre on May 2, died yesterday.

Fr Camilleri, who was from Qormi, tripped on some wood which was being used in maintenance work at the centre, and in his fall injured his head and ribs. He had been in hospital since then.

Fr Camilleri was ordained in 1974 and appointed parish priest of Luqa in 1997.

Out of respect for his critical condition, the Curia last month decided to cancel the feast of St Andrew, due to be held next month.

The funeral will be held tomorrow, leaving St Luke's Hospital at 9 a.m. and proceeding to St Sebastian parish in Qormi for prayers, followed by Mass at Luqa parish church at 3 p.m. He will be interred at the Addolorata Cemetery.
