Motions on the composition of the House Business Committee and the Maltese parliament's representatives in various overseas bodies are due to be approved by the House of Representatives when it meets this afternoon.
The motions, which will be moved by Lawrence Gonzi, Leader of the House, provide that the House Business Committee shall be presided by the Speaker and be composed of Dr Gonzi, Nationalist MPs Mario Galea and Frederick Azzopardi and Labour MPs Charles Mangion and Joe Mizzi.
Malta's representatives to the parliamentary assembly of the Organisation on Security and Cooperation in Europe will be Jason Azzopardi (PN) as head of delegation, Frederick Azzopardi (PN) and Anglu Farrugia (MLP).
The executive committee to the national group of the Inter-Parliamentary Union will be composed of the Speaker as president, the prime minister and the leader of the opposition as vice-presidents, Helen D'Amato (PN) and George Vella (MLP) as members and Mario Galea (PN) and Joe Mizzi (MLP) as substitute members.
Malta's delegates to the parliamentary assembly of the Council of Europe will be Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando (PN), head of delegation, Robert Arrigo (PN) and Joe Debono Grech (MLP).
The substitute members will be Joe Falzon (PN), Michael Gonzi (PN) and John Attard Montalto (MLP).
The House is then due to continue its debate on the Commissioner for Children Bill.
The other items on the agenda are: the Internal Audit and Financial Investigations Bill, the Civil Code (amendment) Bill, the European Union Bill, and the European Parliament Elections Bill, all in the second reading stage.
