The Institute for Tourism Studies recently presented a silver memento to former Tourism Minister Michael Refalo to thank him for the long and valuable contribution he had made to Malta's tourist industry.

The presentation was made at a reception organised by the chairman, Tony Gatt, the board of governors and staff of ITS. ITS was set up in 1988 by Dr Refalo as a priority measure in the strategy to offer visitors a better product and service.

Dr Refalo recalled that ITS students now number close to a thousand and that the premises have been enlarged twice to cater for more students and courses.
