Gigi Gauci, one of the stalwarts of the Labour Party, has died at the age of 92.

Mr Gauci, who was also actively involved in the General Workers' Union, was instrumental in setting up the MLP veterans' group in 1988.

He was also responsible for setting up the MLP's Balzan committee.

Just two years ago he published his autobiography - Xhieda ta' Seklu (Witness of a Century)- which explained the work he undertook along the years in the interest of thousands of workers.

Both the MLP and the veterans' group have paid tribute to Mr Gauci.
