The Royal Navy mine countermeasure vessels HMS Bangor and HMS Sandown, will pay an informal visit to Malta from today to Wednesday.

Commanded by Lieutenant Commander Jerry Woods, Bangor is 64 metres long and displaces 1,477 tonnes. The same dimensions apply for Sandown, skippered by Lieutenant Commander Anthony Long. Each ship has a complement of five officers, seven senior rates and 25 junior rates.

During the visit, the ships' company will be sparing some time to perform voluntary work for Din l-Art Helwa.

The ships will not be open to the public during their stay.
