The Razzett tal-Hbiberija yesterday inaugurated the first phase of its "multi-sensory room", a new project which will provide therapy for an array of conditions for the disabled.

During a presentation for dignitaries at the premises in Marsascala, general manager Nathan Farrugia emphasised the increase in demand and use of Razzett's facilities over the past two years, and the continuous struggle to raise the money needed to offer these free services to disabled persons.

Razzett offers over Lm100,000 worth in services annually to the disabled.

The event started with a brief introduction by Dr Alex Perici Calascione, a member of the board of governors.

A multimedia presentation about the project was then given to those present, who included Social Policy Minister Lawrence Gonzi, Labour MP Evarist Bartolo, US Ambassador Anthony Gioia, and Mrs Janatha Stubbs, founder of ir-Razzett tal-Hbiberija.

President Guido de Marco then unveiled an artistic impression of the multi-sensory room, which is expected to be completed in some three months' time.

During a tour of the premises the guests had the chance to view the disability programmes on offer, which include pottery and animal interaction.
