The House of Representatives yesterday expressed its condolences to Labour MPs Evarist Bartolo and Marie-Louise Coleiro, whose mothers passed away on March 15 and May 23 respectively.
Condolences were expressed on behalf of the government by Prime Minister Eddie Fenech Adami.
Notary Charles Mangion, deputy leader of the opposition, expressed the opposition's condolences.
The Chair associated itself with the remarks of both sides of the House.
Mr Bartolo, in thanking the House, said the best quality he had learnt from his mother was that she could show her love without preferences for anyone's political colour.
Ms Coleiro thanked the House, the President, the people of Qormi and all those who had expressed their sympathy. She said her mother, and her father, had been a driving force in her life and had instilled in the family sound Christian and civic values.
