EU treaty among 32 new bills

The House of Representatives yesterday gave a first reading to 32 bills, including one to ratify the EU accession treaty and another to regulate the holding of the elections to the European Parliament.

The other bills were the Internal Audit and Financial Investiations Bill, the Social Security Act (amendment) Bill, the Commissioner for Children Bill, the Social Work Bill, the Psychology Profession Bill, the Education Act (amendment) Bill, the Central Registry Bill, the Civil Code (amendment) Bill, the Firearms Bill, the Civil Aviation and Eurocontrol Acts (amendment) Bill, the Public Health Bill, the Medical Services Bill, the Tobacco Smoking Control Act (amendment) Bill, the Medical Professions Bill;

The Gold and Silversmiths Ordinance (amendment) Bill, the Liberalisation of Foreign and Capital Transactions Bill, the Accountancy Professions Act (amendment) Bill, the Industrial Property Act (amendment) Bill, the Copyright Act (amendment) Bill, the Legal Protection of Designs Bill, the Supplies and Provisions Services Act (amendment) Bill, the Management of Public Financnes Bill, the Customs and Excise Duties Act (amendment) Bill, the Income Tax Act (amendment) Bill, the Value Added Tax (amendment) Bill, the Commercial Code (amendment) Bill, the Immovable Property Acquisition Act (amendment) Bill, the Liberalisation of Cargo Transport (amendment) Bill, the Malta Enterprise Bill and the Building Contractors Registration Bill.
