May I take the PR cue from Alfred Sant's titles to his articles in The Times for my little note of congratulation. Dr Sant's "comeback" reminds me of General Bonaparte's triumphant return to Paris after the Egyptian campaign debacle. The great general returned home to become First Consul and, eventually, leader of the French.

Attaboy, Alfred! Further triumphs still lie in your path. We may one day have to follow you into Ranier Fsadni's appropriately quoted sunset, but that will have to wait. Our Waterloo is still far, far away.
