Nissan Motor Sales Ltd of Msida yesterday launched the new Nissan Micra, dubbed the "affordable compact car with bigger ideas".

The new Micra is available in one litre, 1.2 litre and l.4 litre fuel-injected petrol engines. In September, a 1.5 DCI engine will also be available. The Micra comes in three- and five-door models. Prices start at Lm5,950.

The new car was awarded the 2003 European Automotive Design Award from Designers (Europe), a division of Fontignies Consulting.

It comes with electric power steering, driver/passenger and side airbags and keyless central locking among other features.
