There could be an ample supply of Serb beauties this summer if the dream of a former Miss Yugoslavia comes to fruition.
A 10-day holiday in Malta has been enough to convince beauty queen Helena Mihic of the vast potential of setting up a modelling school on the island, which she intends to do by July.
Her intention is to bring between 50 and 100 modelling students from Serbia and Montenegro for three weeks in July.
During the morning, the students will be enrolled in an English language school and in the afternoon and evening they will attend courses and be given the chance to take part in modelling shows.
Thanks to her company Select, Helena has organised modelling courses for young models from the former Yugoslavia in Cyprus, London and Lebanon with a large degree of success.
Helena said modelling in Serbia and Montenegro had always been popular and in recent years grew to become extremely fashionable, as evidenced by the number of girls that were willing to inject silicone into their bodies.
"They are more than happy to pay for their silicone operations, so they're obviously more than prepared to invest in a trip to Malta to further their career," she said.
The idea is to provide a modelling platform for the young models, who may then work their way up to strike a deal with fashion firms.
During the past week, Helena has been scouring the island looking for hotels which could host the girls and set up the shows. She intends to start marketing the project in Serbia and Montenegro on Monday.
"I love everything about Malta. I love the culture, the traditions, the easy life, the language, and... the good looks of its people," she said with enthusiasm.
