A new retirement home, Casa Antonia, will welcome its first guests next week. The complex in Balzan will be able to take 130 people.
It has been constructed on the site of the former Grosvenor Hotel in a project which has taken over two and a half years to complete. All the rooms have either a balcony or terrace, and have a specially equipped bathroom, air-conditioning and central heating, heated flooring, and a nurse-call facility. The complex itself has gardens, walking paths, a swimming pool, a pond, mini-golf area, chapel and restaurants.
There is also a high-dependency unit which can take 26 people.
Casa Antonia is being run by Valerie Ltd, owned by the Vella family, who also own the Qawra Palace Hotel.
