A Mosta man was yesterday given a 10-month jail term suspended for four years and put on probation for three years for stealing a car and crashing into three others.

Philip Abela, 36, was also fined Lm250 after he pleaded guilty to stealing Manuel Tanti's car, driving recklessly and crashing into three cars in Bugibba on May 18, 2002.

He also pleaded guilty to driving without insurance cover and relapsing.

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera noted that Abela had been found guilty of other crimes including theft, fraud and serious injury.

She banned him from driving for three years.
