Maltese shooter Horace Micallef took centre stage at the end of the second day of the Malta International Grand Prix after scoring a 50 straight to move top of the standings.

On a day when high scores were registered at the Bidnija ranges, Micallef surged to the top of the leaderboard alongside Italian Ugo Procacci, both on 96 points.

Procacci, one of three Italian shooters to lead the charts after the opening day on Friday, yesterday landed 48 hits - 24 and 24.

Joe Attard and Italian Roberto Saraceno have 95 points to their credit after hitting 49 clays yesterday. Noel Attard and Frans Pace, the members of Malta's GSSE Trap team, also emulated Micallef and Joe Attard in hitting a straight (25) to start the third and final day in the top six with 94 points each.

Diego Gasperini and Paul Camilleri also have a total of 94 hits after the first two days.

The International GP, sponsored by Maltacom and BoV, comes to a close today when participants tackle a last round of 25 clays before the top six enter the final barrage. This 125+25 Trap competition is part of the MOC's preparation programme for next month's Malta GSSE.
