I refer to the letter entitled "Law-breaking wardens" by Sandro Rapinett (May 5).

Mr Rapinett asked to be enlightened about an incident which he alleges took place on April 25 at about 10.30 p.m.

After our investigations it transpires that Mr Rapinett had been issued with a contravention notice approximately 30 minutes before the incident to which he refers. Furthermore, he did not mention the scene that ensued when he addressed wardens who were taking their break.

With regard to his allegation that the wardens in question had parked their service vehicle irregularly, our investigations show that the vehicle was parked according to law.

However, even if his complaint was correct he should have referred it to the local council concerned, who would investigate every complaint that is reported. It is quite apparent that the motivation for Mr Rapinett's letter was somewhat different from that of wardens parking their car irregularly.

His derogatory comments on the local wardens are best left without comment as they only emphasise the real motivation for his correspondence.
