A Safi man was yesterday charged with assaulting a police officer and damaging two police cars in January.

Paul Galea, 25, pleaded not guilty to causing more than Lm100 damage to the two cars to the detriment of the government and assaulting and slightly injuring PS Joseph Urpani in Zejtun and Safi on January 18.

He also pleaded not guilty to driving against a one-way sign, driving dangerously and endangering a police constable's life and breaching the peace.

Police Inspector Joseph Agius prosecuted.
