A man entered a jewellery shop on the pretext of wanting to see some items but snatched them from the shop assistant and escaped.

The police said the robbery took place at G.B. Jewellery, in Fleur de Lys Road, Birkirkara, yesterday afternoon.

The man was described as being about 35 years old.

The police said the value of the stolen jewellery has still to be established.

Duty magistrate Miriam Hayman ordered an inquiry while district and CID police are investigating.
