I voted Yes in the referendum and voted for the Nationalists in the general election but I would not call myself a staunch Nationalist. Rather I find myself defaulted into voting Nationalist because there is no other viable option and we need an alternative (no pun intended).
The Labour Party needs to organise itself and we would all benefit. It is very simple actually. You need to do away with Alfred Sant and Manwel Cuschieri (I believe these two single-handedly lost you the referendum, the election and all your credibility), find yourselves a good leader (try tempting George Abela back, or possibly Lino Spiteri), establish internal policy for conducting yourselves (abandon the riot mongering, old style, threatening approach, it no longer works) and demand integrity and unity from all your members (too much backstabbing going on internally).
Furthermore, set a direction which establishes national unity and economic peace and prosperity as the foremost aims (the GWU strictly excluded) with EU membership as the backdrop, as the people clearly want, and make all your candidates embrace this or pull out - there can be absolutely no compromises here.
Malta must have a good opposition which aspires to be an even better government and the only real candidate out there capable of this is the MLP.
This is by no means a simple task but there is no other way. All the manoeuvring we are now seeing by the MLP is just setting the stage for yet another re-entrenchment of the existing top echelon. Do this, and you virtually guarantee another five years of fiasco as an opposition, followed by yet another electoral debacle, and we, Malta, cannot afford this. The Nationalists will grow increasingly arrogant as they tend to do and without serious opposition they will remain in power. Furthermore, you owe it to us all, to your staunch supporters and to yourselves.
