Young bartender James Aquilina has won the Joseph Giusti Bartender of the Year Award, held annually by the Maltese Bartenders Guild.

Mr Aquilina works at the Corinthia Palace Hotel in Attard. It was the second consecutive year that the award went to him.

Mr Aquilina has won several local competitions, which allowed him to represent the guild and Malta at the International Flairtending Competition, organised by the International Bartenders Association in Slovenia.

The award was named after one of the guild's promising bartenders, who passed away at a young age. It is conferred on bartenders who have distinguished themselves during the year by acquiring points for attending educational activities, participating and winning local and international cocktail competitions and other such activities, organised by the guild.
