A Hamrun man was yesterday put on probation for three years for threatening and slightly injuring his former partner.

Darren Galea, 22, filed a guilty plea to all charges which included violent indecent assault after he tore off the clothes of Mariella Galea in the argument.

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera noted that Galea had a clean conduct sheet and ruled he did not deserve to go to jail in the circumstances.

The Galeas had since parted ways and the defendant had already paid part of the damage.
