A 26-year-old woman was yesterday jailed for 14 months and fined Lm150 for loitering with intent for prostitution.

Mariella Bugeja, of Zurrieq, was found guilty of loitering in Marsa on October 10, 2002, at about midnight and offending public morals.

She was also found guilty of threatening a police sergeant at the Hamrun police station, breaching the peace and committing a crime during the operative time of a nine-month suspended jail term.

On finding her guilty of the charges, Magistrate Saviour Demicoli jailed Bugeja for five months and ordered that the suspended jail term be put into force, bringing the total jail term to 14 months.

Police Inspector Mario Bonello prosecuted.
