The Christ the King Band has been invited by the Dance Council - Malta to take part in the Dance Marathon in Valletta on Saturday.

The dance marathon is sponsored by Unesco and is held worldwide in aid of charities on April 5, World Day of Dancing. In Malta it was postponed because of the electoral campaign.

The Dance Council - Malta, under the direction of Tanya Bajona, has been organising the marathon to raise money for philanthropic purposes in recent years.

All proceeds from this year's marathon will go to support a restoration project by Din l-Art Helwa. The theme for this year is Cultural Heritage.

The Christ the King Band will accompany the groups of dancers in a parade which starts at 9 a.m. from the presidential palace along Republic Street to Freedom Square.

The band will also present a short musical programme before groups of dancers from the various dance schools in Malta take to the stage.

The marathon will end at 10 p.m.
