Stolen van leaves trail of destruction

A 21-year-old man driving a stolen Mazda van left a trail of destruction on Saturday, hitting and damaging 13 cars before the van overturned.

The driver, who was unhurt, is expected to be arraigned today.

The police said they received reports that there was an overturned van on Tower Road, Sliema at about 8 p.m. on Saturday. They found that the van, which had earlier been reported stolen from Qawra, had hit a number of cars along that stretch of road before overturning.

To the police's astonishment, they found that the van had also allegedly hit a number of other cars in St Julian's earlier.

Investigations are being held by the Sliema district police.
