Labour leader Alfred Sant yesterday laid a wreath at the foot of the Workers' Monument in Msida to commemorate Workers' Day, being marked tomorrow.

He was accompanied by deputy leaders George Vella and Joe Brincat and greeted by a number of supporters.

In a short address, he said the May 1 celebrations commemorated everything that the workers had attained and were still working for across the globe.

"The challenge is to give relevance to Workers' Day and to assert that we are all workers and that our work has to be cherished through peace and solidarity with others."
