University students in their fourth year in primary education are carrying out five performances to mark the Faculty of Education's 25th anniversary.
Four of the performances are based on famous musicals and, although certain songs have been retained, the scripts have been rewritten and adapted to the local context, rendering them more interesting for the primary children who would attend these pantomimes.
The performances are: The Pied Piper of Hamelin, The Secret Garden, The Selfish Giant and The Millennium Child. The fifth performance is an original collective creation based on fairy tales.
All the five groups were supervised by theatre directors Mario Azzopardi, Carmel Aquilina, Josette Ciappara, Lorrane Vella and Isabelle Gatt, who acted as consultants. The project is organised and co-ordinated by Isabelle Gatt.
These performances will be held at Sir Temi Zammit Hall at University from May 6 to May 8. All children from primary schools are invited to attend two of the five different performances. Entrance is free.
Schools have received invitations by e-mail and can also book for any of these performances by e-mail. For booking, heads of schools should contact isabelle.gatt@um.edu.mt.
