Michael Pace, a Maltese emigrant to the US, is the general manager of a new boutique hotel which opened last month in San Francisco.
The 144-room Hotel Cosmo, in the heart of the city's shopping, restaurant and theatre district, will be organising ongoing art exhibitions to promote the cultural identity of the Californian city.
The Hotel Cosmo (www.hotel-cosmo.com) is part of the Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants chain, a San Francisco-based company known for its collection of stylish boutique hotels. Founded in 1981, the company currently operates 37 hotels and 33 restaurants across the US and Canada.
Designed by Craig Walters of Fun Design, the hotel's lobby is newly renovated in shades of light blue, lavender and olive green and features lounge areas with geometrically shaped chairs, twin pillars wrapped in soft lavender fabric and a multi-coloured glass-tiled reception desk.
Mr Pace has been in the US for the past seven years. He is offering special rates for Maltese visitors.
