The EMPTC Conference - Exploring Malta's Prehistoric Temple Culture - will be held in Malta between September 25 and 27. This conference is an inter-national effort, with an assembly of scholars and enthusiasts who will focus exclusively on Malta's prehistoric temple culture.

The Archaeological Institute of America, the International Astronomical Union, the Council for British Archaeology, Australian Humanities Review, AegeaNet, and the Australasian Society for Historical Archaeology are among the organisations carrying notification and issuing calls for papers.

Speakers are currently scheduled from the University of Malta, Cambridge University, University of Vienna, University of Melbourne, California Institute of Integral Studies, University of California, Los Angeles, University of the Aegean, and the Istituto per i Beni Archeologici of Catania.

The gathering of such a large assembly from various parts of the world broadens the potential for creative co-operation and enterprise. There is a possibility that information presented at the conference will be included in an IMAX film about Malta's temples. This project is still being developed.

Anyone interested in presenting a paper should e-mail an abstract to EMPTC@aol.com. Copies of the abstracts and confirmed speakers will be announced to the registered participants in June. Deadlines have been extended as far as possible but must close for publication; however, registration concessions will be considered for Maltese resident presenters.

All sessions will be conducted in English. For further information visit www.otsf.org/EMPTC-conference.html.
