A Marsa man was yesterday charged with smashing a car and then setting fire to it.

Joseph Micallef, 24, pleaded not guilty to smashing Mario Cutajar's car on April 13 and setting fire to it the next day.

He was also charged with assaulting and slightly injuring Cutajar on Wednesday. Micallef was granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm2,000.

Police Inspector Mario Bonello prosecuted.
