Offer to walk the nature trail

Spoonbills

Spoonbills

The coming Saturday and Sunday, the last weekend of April, should mark the peak of bird migration in the Maltese islands, and will be celebrated in a special way at the Ghadira Nature Reserve, BirdLife Malta said yesterday.

Apart from the possibility of enjoying a lovely walk in the nature trail, where people will get the opportunity of seeing chameleons and the sandarac tree (national tree of Malta), other facilities will be available.

These include a fixed telescope in the reception centre and a live filming of a bird's nest, done thanks to a micro camera. Several items will be on sale, including a variety of local species of trees and shrubs at very good prices.

The reserve promises to be a worthwhile outing for the whole family and the possibility of seeing some migratory species of birds that visit the reserve.

The reserve will remain open on weekends until May 27 when the gates close for the summer.

Further information may be obtained on tel. 2134 7646.
