Arts Club fund-raising exhibition

An exhibition of works by local and foreign artists is open at the Circolo Gozitano, It-Tokk, Victoria, and will be auctioned tomorrow.

Money raised by the organisers, the Arts Club, will go to the artists and to a special scholarship fund established to further art studies and provide bursaries for overseas scholarships.

The Arts Club was established early this year by a core group of some 30 artists who attended a course led by Prof. Douglas Eckhart of Luther College, Decorah, Iowa as visiting lecturer at St James Cavalier Centre, Valletta, sponsored by the US Embassy.

Artists range in age from 14 to 78 and hail from Malta, Gozo, the US, Switzerland, England and Wales and include: Sara Aarohi, Doreen Buttigieg, Erika Chircop, Claire Portelli, Martin Masini, Chris Micallef, Paul Farrugia, Paul Galea, Tony Macelli, Tony Smith, Mark von Brockdorff, Toby von Brockdorff, Aldo Zammit Borda, Craig Hanna, Etienne Grech and the three Robinson sisters.

Dinner and dancing are being organised on the roof of the Circolo after the auction. Bookings close today.
