Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said he expected Parliament to be convened early next month to start debating the ratification of Malta's EU accession treaty, signed by the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister in Athens last Wednesday, although no date has yet been fixed.
Dr Gonzi told The Sunday Times yesterday said that casual elections have first to be held to bring the 65-member House of Representatives to its full strength.
The dates for the casual elections have yet to be set to fill the seats to be vacated by the seven candidates, four for the PN and three for the MLP, who were elected from two districts.
They are Dr Eddie Fenech Adami, Dr Joe Borg, Dr Francis Zammit Dimech and Dr Louis Galea (PN) and Dr Alfred Sant, Dr George Vella and Mr Evarist Bartolo (MLP).
