Local international basketball referee, Bernard Vassallo, will be in Croatia next week as one of two neutral officials for the Group A games valid for the FIBA European Championship Challenge Round.

The Challenge Round is the second stage of FIBA's international competition for national teams.

After the opening stage, those qualifying were drawn in nine groups. Eighteen teams subsequently qualified for the challenge stage where they were divided in three groups of six countries each.

Eight teams will qualify next week for this year's Euro Championships in August.

The six national teams making up Group A are: Ukraine, Croatia, Macedonia, Germany, England and Slovakia.

The games will run between April 22 and 26 in the town of Pozega.
