As part of their two-day visit to Malta, Dr Noel Buttigieg Scicluna, Malta's Ambassador to Austria, and Helmut Swarovski, chairman of the Swarovski Group and Malta's honorary consul in Innsbruck, called on FOI president Anton Borg at the FOI premises.

The purpose of this meeting, which was held on March 17, was to introduce Mr Swarovski in his role as the newly appointed honorary consul and also to discuss ways of stimulating Malta-Austria trade.

Mr Borg, who was accompanied by FOI executive Cecilia Vella, highlighted some of the advantages and disadvantages of the Maltese Islands, emphasising that the scarcity of land is one of the major problems in Malta.

Following the meeting, the FOI arranged for Dr Buttigieg Scicluna and Mr Swarovski to visit a number of FOI member companies.
