Dr Lilian Azzopardi from the Department of Pharmacy was the keynote speaker at the SympoDader3 conference held in Saragoza, Spain, last week.
Dr Azzopardi, who has gained international recognition for her studies on the development of validation instruments for community pharmacy, has addressed meetings, conferences and courses on quality care in pharmacy all over Europe and the US.
She has received recognition for this work by the International Federation of Pharamcists (FIP) and the European Society of Clinical Pharmacy (ESCP).
In Saragoza, Dr Azzopardi lectured on quality care, developed by Linda Strand, founder of the practice of pharmaceutical care, who was the keynote speaker of last year's meeting.
Answers to the following questions were tackled: can the added value of the pharmacist intervention be demonstrated? And what does the impact of the pharmacist advising role on patient are provide in clinical practice?
