This year has been a good year for Kia not just in Malta but throughout Europe, with sales records across the continent and an all-time record last month to top the first quarter sales increase that is the highest in Europe.

Cumulative sales from January to March increased by 50.3 per cent compared with the same period last year and last month alone sales increased by 66.7 per cent over the same month last year.

Despite challenging market conditions for all carmakers across Europe, sales of Kia vehicles continue to buck this downward trend. The Rio family hatchback headed the Kia boom with sales up 50.4 per cent so far this year, demand for Kia's all-new Sorento SUV is extremely high, and the Carens compact MPV and Carnival MPV model ranges are becoming increasingly popular with European customers.

Jae-Hun Yu, president of Kia Motors Europe, said: "The all-time monthly sales record for Kia in Europe during March is clear evidence of the continued growth and evolution of the Kia brand across the European markets.

"Our product range competes in tough and crowded sectors and trading conditions have been very difficult. But with Kia's young, sporty and friendly image, backed by its traditional core values of robust engineering, value for money, impressive equipment and competitive performance, our vehicles are increasingly appealing to the tastes of European customers."

Top-selling markets for Kia in Europe so far this year are Germany, Italy, United Kingdom, Spain and Netherlands.

The local market has positively received the newly launched wider range of models.

Local agents Easysell (Kia) Malta Limited is currently embarking on a strong PR and marketing campaign highlighting Kia's renewed image as "The car that cares", emphasising "safety", "strong build" and "brand image".

Addressing members of the press at the Kia showroom in Qormi on Thursday, Easysell (Kia) Malta announced its renewed support for Lynn Chircop, winner of the Malta Song for Europe contest.

Not only will Easysell (Kia) Malta be providing financial assistance to Lynn covering her travel expenses but the company will also be providing her with a car for use in Malta.
