Two San Gwann neighbours were yesterday charged with injuring or trying to injure each other in an argument that had been brewing for weeks.

Oliver Micallef, 41, and Carmen Galea, 35, live in the same block. This was the latest argument in a series, Inspector Martin Sammut told the court, and most of them were instigated by Micallef. The inspector spoke before Magistrate Miriam Hayman before she granted the two bail against a Lm1,000 personal guarantee.

Micallef was charged with trying to seriously injure Galea with a hammer while Galea was charged with slightly injuring Micallef.

They were also charged with assaulting each other and breaching the peace.

The two were bound not to approach each other or speak to each other's families.

Police Inspectors Martin Sammut and Robert Gregory prosecuted.

Dr Edward Gatt appeared Galea while for Dr Vince Galea appeared for Micallef.
