By virtue of their victory over Hibs Go Mobile in the fourth game of the league championship final series on Sunday, champions Depiro Still retained their hold on the top honour in MBA women's competitions for the second time in a row.

Depiro sealed the issue with a sound 71-47 victory over Hibs Go Mobile to make it a 3-1 triumph in the final.

Charles Bonnici's girls controlled the game from the start and it was only in the second period that Hibs held the upperhand. That, however, was too little to unsettle their opponents.

The league title was Depiro's third honour of the season. They started the campaign by lifting the Super Cup. Then, after losing the MBA Shield to perennial rivals Hibs, Depiro bounced back to lift the Louis Borg Cup before adding the major honour - the national championship.

Bonnici introduced an interesting crop of youngsters during the season. He certainly has a balanced side with tall Josephine Grima a dominant figure underneath the boards.

The team is built on former Hibs all-rounder Dorianne Galea, Depiro's top-scorer this season.

The speed of Marika Micallef and Rosanne Falzon were other factors that contributed to Depiro's success.

Another former Hibs player, Rachel Tryon, applied all her experience when needed as forward Lara Cauchi and playmaker Stephanie Axiaq also gave a valid contribution to the team's success.
