Nadur council last week inaugurated a playing field and a small bowls pitch in the San Blas area.

The event was marked by various activities, starting off with bowls games followed by a speech by Charmaine Hili, a concert by the Mnarja Band directed by Mro Joseph Grech, and an essay and a poem on the environment recited by youngsters Liza Attard and Emanuel Agius respectively.

Singers Christian and Gabriella Grech and Keith and the Adonell Dancers entertained the audience. Peter Paul Vella read a piece entitled San Blas Safi and mayor Dr Chris Said delivered a speech.

A commemorative plaque was unveiled and Archpriest Mgr Salv Muscat blessed the playing field and the pitch.
