During the last general assembly of the FISEC International Bureau, it was decided that the 55th edition of the games next year will be held in Malta.

The FISEC International Bureau took notice of the efficient handling of the Maltese organisers last year before announcing its decision.

In a statement, Malta FISEC Council chairman, Bro. Martin Borg, said holding the Games again will be a difficult task but his organisation was confident of doing another good job also boosted by the promised support of Parliamentary Secretary for Sport Jesmond Mugliett.

"Organising these Games in Malta is not an easy proposition," he said.

"But, I am confident that the 2004 Games are going to be a huge success again. We have already secured the backing of the authorities and a large number of volunteers who helped us in 2002."

The Malta FISEC Council is at present preparing its athletes for this year's edition of the Games, in Salamanca, Spain, between July 19 and 25.
