Stalemate between top two in the standings
Sadia Mizzi goals put Mosta in third place
Hibernians maintained their unbeaten record after 13 matches in the league so far. Last weekend, however, they were held to a 0-0 draw by second-placed team Birkirkara.
Hibernians maintained their unbeaten run this season after figuring in a scoreless draw last weekend at the Pace Grasso Ground in their match against close rivals Birkirkara.
Hibernians are already sure of retaining the league title they won last year as their 10-point lead at the top of the standings is insurmountable with only a few matches remaining for the end of the championship trek.
Play concentrated mainly in midfield on Sunday with few chances at each end of the pitch. In the end, both teams shared the spoils in their second 0-0 draw between them this season. It was the fourth goalless stalemate so far in the league.
Birkirkara goalkeeper Costantino was on the alert in the first half to block a Vella drive from close in. Deborah Pisani was almost on target for Birkirkara after the break while league top scorer Dorianne Theuma was inches away from breaking the deadlock late in the game.
In the other match of the day Mosta leapfrogged Melita in the standings and moved to the third place after a sound 2-0 win over Rabat Ajax.
Sadia Mizzi scored both goals for Mosta who are now three points away from runners-up Birkirkara on the 22-point mark.
Top scorers: D. Theuma (Hibs) 17 goals; J. Vella, S. Caruana (both Hibs) 10; E. Agliano (Birkirkara) 9; C. Camilleri (Birkirkara), S. Mizzi (Mosta) 8.
Sunday's matches: 9 a.m. Mosta vs Melita; 10.30 a.m. Raiders vs Rabat Ajax.
