After the March 8 referendum, Alfred Sant has forced us to take sides on something that is deeper than the vital EU debate. It is now all about sanity and democracy.
I am pro-PN and pro-EU, and perhaps have no right to dabble in the internal affairs of the MLP. On the other hand, I feel compelled to urge true social democrats to reflect on the seriousness of the situation by using the power of their vote effectively.
Labour is not fit to govern under Dr Sant's leadership. The party needs to reform itself without the added burden of governing the country. A reformed MLP will be healthy for its own supporters and the country in general. This reform can only happen if a new Labour team fills the power vacuum created by Dr Sant's exit.
I believe that Labour Party supporters should embark on Project Phoenix: loosing the election and then rising from the ashes as a stronger party.
