The leader of the opposition yesterday filed a libel suit over allegations that he asked criminals to accompany him to provoke incidents.

Alfred Sant filed the suit in the Magistrates' Court against lawyer Frank Cassar for his comments on a Net Television programme on March 19.

Dr Sant claimed Dr Cassar had also said Dr Sant wanted blood to be shed during the general election.

He called on the court to condemn Dr Cassar to pay him damages in terms of the Press Act.

Dr Pawlu Lia signed the suit.
