Maria Mifsud Bonnici broke her own national record in yesterday's Duathlon Championships, sponsored by Empire Cinema.
The race at the Salina coastroad consisted of an opening run of five kilometres which was followed by a 30km cycle and a second three-kilometre run.
Mifsud Bonnici dominated from start to finish. She was home in 1:25.21, ten minutes ahead of her nearest rival Danica Spiteri, who was second. First ladies veteran, and third place overall in the females category, was Debbie Micallef Eynaud.
In the men's event, Dermot Galea finished first in 1:17.53. He was over three minutes faster than second-placed Nicky Farrugia. Richard Galea was third.
The veterans category was won by Mark Bugeja in 1:24.18 while the juniors event for boys was won by Keith Galea in 1:23.21.
Team E, consisting of Abdel Ghani and Manuel Micallef, was in a class of their own, completing the race in 1:13.34, four minutes ahead of Team A (Stefan Borg and Etienne Bonello). The third team in was composed of Gilbert Zahra and Ishmael Muscat.
